Approximately 70 copies of Crossing Swords found new readers over the weekend of Aug. 22 through a product expo in Buena Vista, Colorado.
Crossing Swords: Mary Baker Eddy vs. Victoria Claflin Woodhull and the Battle for the Soul of Marriage and its author Cindy Safronoff were a big attraction at the event in the Rocky Mountains. For most of the 2-hour time period, people surrounded the table, asking questions and thumbing through the book.
Some of the table visitors had already heard of this newly published historical biography (through Facebook, personal connections, or word of mouth) and took the opportunity to pick up a copy and have it signed by the author. Others were discovering the book at the event and were curious what it was all about. A few people had already read the book and were actively encouraging other people to read it.
Interactions between the author and readers at the expo generated some highly engaging discussions. Many of the new readers have promised to write reviews for the book on Amazon. Expo attendees came from all over the United States, and so even those who didn’t get a copy at the event are now aware of the book and will help spread the word about it.
Overall, the expo was a great success. So successful, in fact, that this event seemed to promise to be only the beginning of a great adventure, with higher elevation yet to be achieved. Ever upward!
